WELCOME TO SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL

Together, Grades 11 and 12 form Senior High School (SHS), the culminating stage of the K to 12 Program. They represent two additional years that are required for all students who wish to be recognized as high school graduates in the Philippines.

In SHS, students take on core curriculum as well as specialized subjects in their preferred track. SHS aims to empower graduates for any of the different exit points: skills development (further technical-vocational training), entrepreneurship, employment, and higher education (college).

The 7E‘s Model

Our textbooks’ instructional procedure is patterned after the 7 Es model by distinguished professor Arthur Eisenkraft, Ph.D.:

  • ELICIT – Check students’ knowledge prior to the lesson
  • ENGAGE – Capture students’ attention or stimulate their interest using the inquiry process
  • EXPLORE – Allow students to build their own understanding
  • EXPLAIN – Provide students with an opportunity to communicate what they have learned
  • ELABORATE – Allow students to practice acquired skills and apply their knowledge in an original manner
  • EVALUATE – Determine how much learning and understanding has taken place
  • EXTEND – Provide opportunities to apply learning in unfamiliar situations and for more challenging tasks

EDUCATOR ENABLEMENT

TEACHER CERTIFICATE PROGRAM

A special training program designed specifically for Senior High School teachers, the TCP-CDDS introduced concepts and procedures relevant to designing and supervising classroom instruction and promoted in-depth mastery of content per subject area or discipline.

The program included the following courses:

  • Designing and Developing the Curriculum and Instruction (3 units)
  • Curriculum Implementation and Supervision (3 units)
  • Current Trends in Teaching and Learning: Models and Methodologies (3 units)
  • Assessment and Evaluation of Learning (3 units)
  • Elective/Demofest (6 units)

INSTRUCTOR’S KIT

A collection of methodically-designed slide presentations that assist teachers and parents in delivering SHS lessons. Instructor’s Kits follow the scope and sequence of the SHS curriculum and complement the REX SHS textbook.

Each Instructor’s Kit comes with:

  • An introduction
  • Lesson objectives
  • Discussion notes
  • Fully worked-out examples
  • Relevant exercises
  • A summary of key concepts

TEACHER’S RESOURCE MATERIALS (TRM)

Using our various resources, teachers can help students gain higher levels of knowledge and develop a wide range of competencies :

  • Key concepts that will assist teachers in content delivery
  • Different forms of assessments (diagnostic, formative, summative, and self-assessment)
  • Scaffold learning instructions anchored on the Gradual Release of Responsibility (GRR) model
  • Opportunities for integrating technology in the classroom

SENIOR HIGH WORK IMMERSION 

As part of our dedication to provide holistic learning experiences for each child, we create opportunities to connect schools and industries to work together and create meaningful work immersion experiences for senior high schools students.

Through our Isang Nayon Initiative and in partnership with PMAP, different companies and academic institutions can now connect together to help each other both in immersing students in actual working environments that follow the guidelines of the Department of Education and to prepare workplaces for the future workforce. Through this, our hopes are high in helping future proof both the academe and the enterprise.
