As part of our dedication to to Educating the Filipino Whole Child, we acknowledge the importance of Character Formation in the holistic development of each child and have always actively participated in supporting organizations that share the same vision. This year, with the theme: “Communio: Building and Sustaining Communities for Life”, the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP), held it’s National Convention this year at the SMX Convention Center, Davao and as always, we supported the entire endeavor.
CEAP NATIONAL CONVENTION
The 3 day conference that more than 3,000 academics from all over the country attended, reaffirmed the vision of CEAP: “A world transformed, a Philippines renewed by people educated in the principles of Communio and Service as taught and lived by Our Lord Jesus Christ and shaped by the missionary mandate of the Catholic Church.” to address key issues our nation and the world are currently experiencing right now. In the first day, Most Rev. Romullo G. Valles, DD, Archbishop of Davao presided the Opening Eucharistic Celebration and Most. Reverend Orlando B. Quevedo, OMI, Archbishop of Cotabato, gave his message of peace entitled “A cry for peace in Mindanao” to the CEAP delegates. Day two was spent for concurrent sessions to help in improving teaching techniques of members and finally, day three was the launch of the Catholic School Heroes Awards.
We at REX Book Store, being long time partners in education with CEAP, reflected our shared vision throughout the conference via highlighting the importance of Christ Centered Education and the Involvement of Everyone in Creating Holistic Learning Experiences for each child.
RELIGION AS CORE OF CURRICULUM EXPERIENCE
At our booth, we highlighted our Character Formation Portfolio, especially our Religion as Core of Curriculum – Whole Brain Learning System (RCC-WBLS) workbook. Our RCC-WBLS aims to put Christ at the center of learning by aligning lessons for Math, Science, Social Studies, English, and Filipino with stories from the Bible. As we engage and enable our partners in education with our learning solutions, the RCC workbooks and the programs we do around it like our trainings and seminars helps teachers and schools put strengthen values in education.
THANKSGIVING FOR OUR PARTNERS IN EDUCATION
Last September 28, during the 2nd day of the convention, as gratitude to our allies in pushing the education landscape in the Philippines forward, we held our Annual Thanksgiving Dinner at the RSM Theatre of the Philippine Women’s College. With the theme: Shine Mindanao, the event was geared towards giving light to the value of teachers and the partnerships that revolves around education for holistic child development. Participants were welcomed by the Kalumon Performing Ensemble and unlimited Durian, the delicacy of Davao to celebrate the city’s rich and colorful culture.
Don Timothy Buhain, Chief Operating Officer of REX Book Store, opened the ceremonies with a warm message of thanks and the importance of everyone’s involvement in the Education of the Whole Child. Participants and REX associates celebrated another year of partnership throughout the night with performances from local folk pop group Mebuyan and the first Pinoy Pop Super Star Grand Finalist, JONA, who both made the night shine brighter.
The REX Book Store family once again thanks to our partners in education who continues to join us in our journey towards the Success of the Whole Child in the 21st Century.
