REX Book Store began in 1950 as a humble bookstore in Azcarraga (which is now Recto) that buys and sells secondhand books. Now, 67 years later, we have grown into the REX Group of Companies and have over 26 branches and showrooms all over the country. We publish books for pre-elementary, basic education, all the way to college and even law school. We print our own books through Rex Printing and distributes across the country and outside the country like Middle East and other places where there are Filipino students enrolled in Philippine Schools Overseas (PSO) through another subsidiary Rex Book Store International.
We have always believed that children are our future and have always aimed to take an active role in helping to educate learners who are nurtured in all aspects and not just in academics; we want to help each of them grow as a Whole & Joyful Young Person Ready to Contribute to the Nation. That’s why from simply publishing books, we have evolved into a provider of complete learning solutions, including digital ecosystems (through REX Digital), assessment tools (through the REX Institute for Student Excellence), and Professional Development (through REAP). Hence, Para Sa Bata has become Who We Are. Our Identity.
To prepare our learners for the next phase of their life, DepEd required all Senior High School students to go through work immersion before they can graduate. The benefits of work immersion are twofold: businesses welcome young minds who can bring fresh ideas and vigor to their workplace, and students get a taste of what being part of the workforce is like.
Unlike in other countries (such as the U.S. and other Western nations), the majority of our youth never experienced having a part-time job while studying, which contributes to the great adjustment pains that they experience once they enter the so-called “real world”. Many of our graduates are not ready for work. In fact, according to a study conducted by the People Management Association of the Philippines a few years ago, four (4) out of 10 fresh graduates and young jobseekers are not hired simply because they lack three key qualities — critical thinking, initiative, and effective communication skills .
Work immersion is an effective avenue for Millennials to develop these crucial 21st-Century Skills. With your partnership, we can help prepare students — our nation’s future workforce — to become active contributors to industries and productive members of society. Through work immersion, educational institutions and industries can collaborate in ensuring that students are ready to face and change the world.
We cannot do this alone. We need the support of different industries and institutions in preparing our learners to face this complicated world. We know that, just like us, you also dream of seeing our youth not just survive but thrive, to be able to face whatever challenges come their way and to grow into mature, responsible citizens who can contribute in building our nation. As Nelson Mandela said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”

We invite you to support our identity – Para Sa Bata – by being a part of Isang Nayon, the village that nurtures each Filipino Whole Child. Together, we can be of great service to our nation’s learners, our future leaders. All of us have something to contribute, no matter how big or small, and altogether, our efforts can be of great benefit to our nation.
We hope for your support and involvement in our initiatives.
